Eastern State Penitentiary Redux

from History Goes Bump: Ghost Tours For The Mind · host History Goes Bump

Prisons had once been thought of as just holding areas to punish people.  In the late 1800s, a movement started that aspired to a higher ideal of  reform, rather than punishment. Eastern State Penitentiary was built to  launch that reformation in the American penal system. The prison's  edifice is formidable and resembles a castle. This eventually became the  most famous prison in the world. The prison ran for 142 years and today  serves as a museum that offers both historical and ghost tours and  hunts. Officers, inmates, staff and visitors have all reported haunting  activity for decades at the  prison. Join us as  we explore the history and hauntings of the Eastern State Penitentiary!
