Eating Disorders: What Every Teen Should Know

from Healthy Teen Life · host Healthy Teen Life

Eating Disorders affect an estimated 28.8 million Americans in their lifetime, often starting in the teen and college years, yet there's still a number of misconceptions and stigma that can prevent those effected from seeking and getting help. In this episode, I'm joined by Mollie Schlapp-Gilgoff of NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) who shares with listeners what defines an ED, who it can effect, common myths, what to do if you or someone you know has developed an ED, and how to get help. She also shares news about their annual events for Eating Disorder Awareness Week, a national effort to increase awareness and access for those touched by Eating Disorders. This is a highly informative, must-listen episode for teens, young adults, and parents!
