In this Chapter 02,   Digital language transforms communication into a hybrid system where meaning is produced simultaneously for humans and machines.   Expression is no longer purely semantic but also signal-driven: hashtags, emojis, captions, and code function as compact units that guide interpretation, visibility, and algorithmic processing. Communication becomes multimodal, combining text, image, sound, and platform-specific formats into integrated content units that operate across networked environments. In this system, meaning is distributed rather than linear.   It emerges across threads, links, remixes, and shared templates, creating a networked syntax that extends beyond individual messages. At the same time, traditional linguistic norms fragment into platform dialects and microlanguages, producing both creative diversity and new asymmetries in understanding and access.   Digital language also restructures cognition and identity. Individuals adapt their expression to multiple audiences simultaneously, managing visibility, performance, and interpretation within algorithmic environments. Language becomes a tool not only for communication but for signaling, positioning, and belonging within digital networks.
