Europe's Energy Markets: Civilization Runs on Invisible Power   We rarely confuse what is fragile with what is strong. We do, however, often confuse what is familiar with what is permanent.   Electricity has become so familiar that many of us experience it almost as a law of nature rather than the product of continuous human coordination. Yet every kilowatt reaching our homes depends on thousands of decisions made every day by engineers, operators, regulators, energy companies and policymakers.   Perhaps one of the greatest cognitive illusions of modern societies is that stability feels natural. It is simply not. Stability is produced. It is maintained.
