Ecclesiastes

Solomon said, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man,” Ecclesiastes 12:13.As we think about practical books in the Old Testament, Ecclesiastes is one of those books that transcends time and covenants. Man is always looking for meaning in life. What's life all about? Why am I here? Where am I going? How am I going to get there? What things are necessary along the way? What things are full of meaning in this life? The book of Ecclesiastes discusses those types of things.As we think about the quest for meaning in life, Ecclesiastes 12:13 is the conclusion or the answer. We've got to ask, what is the question? If this is the conclusion, we can understand what the whole book is all about. What's the main question? Solomon, who's tried it all- wine, women, building things, gardening, or whatever it may be-in his quest searching for real fulfillment, satisfaction and meaning in life. Ecclesiastes is Solomon's quest for true purpose and meaning in this life.
