"One of the most common arguments raised against the existence of God is the problem of suffering: “If God is good and all-powerful, why does He allow injustice?” But when we turn to Scripture—especially Ecclesiastes 4:1–3—we see that this argument actually backfires.Without God, suffering and oppression can only lead to despair. If life is nothing more than “under the sun,” then Solomon’s conclusion is inescapable: the dead are better off than the living, and it would be better never to have been born. This is the hopelessness of atheism.But the Bible gives us another perspective: God is the righteous Judge who will bring every deed into account (Eccl. 3:16–17). His judgment is not only terrifying to the wicked—it is also a comfort to the oppressed.
