Ecclesiastes part 4

Studying Ecclesiastes 5v18–20, Pastor Hugh Chalk reminds us that God’s goodness is often found in the ordinary moments of life, eating, drinking, working, relationships, rest, and the simple joys we can easily overlook. Life can be difficult, and Scripture does not deny suffering, but it teaches us that hardship does not cancel God’s goodness. True joy is not found in chasing pleasure, success, wealth, or temporary experiences, but in receiving everyday blessings as gifts from God and grounding our hope in Him. Even our struggles can become part of God’s work of shaping us, deepening our faith, character, gratitude, and trust. Ultimately, our present joys point beyond themselves to the greater hope we have in God’s eternal promises. So, rather than rushing through life or waiting for something extraordinary to make us happy, we are invited to slow down, recognise God’s grace in the ordinary, and enjoy the journey with grateful hearts.
