Ed Sheeran Explains Macklemore Exit | Durham News

Ed Sheeran explains Macklemore was removed from his tour not by him, but by promoters after venues—including one owned by the Patriots’ owner—rejected Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian stage shout due to concerns over offensive rhetoric toward the Jewish community. Ed, who tried all week to salvage the booking, respects Macklemore’s conviction but prioritizes creating a safe space for dialogue and protecting his crew’s livelihoods. Eight shows were canceled, replaced by Lukas Graham and Aaron Rowe, with the tour resuming in Philly this Saturday. Ed’s handling of the situation balances artistic solidarity with logistical reality, keeping the conversation open amid intense political tensions.
