Edifying Gospel Partners—Philippians—Josiah Kagin

Are you familiar with trolling? It is defined as making a deliberately offensive or provocative online post with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them. We live in a culture that is ready to criticize, teardown and sarcastically provoke others for fun. The Bible teaches us that we have a responsibility to edify—to build up with words and actions. Paul wrote to the Thessalonian believers and said, “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11) As he begins his epistle to the Philippian church, he practiced what he had preached. He edified the Philippians with gratitude for their partnership, confirmation of God’s work in their lives and his heartfelt prays for them. As we pursue knowing Christ, may we also edify one another.
