The Supreme Court had previously deemed the scheme unconstitutional, citing concerns over transparency and the potential for quid pro quo transactions. Sitharaman noted that the government has yet to decide on pursuing a review petition against the court's decision. She emphasized the need for extensive consultations with various stakeholders to develop a framework that ensures transparency and prevents the infiltration of illicit funds.
