While often we question ourselves, assume we're overreacting, or dismiss the troubling thoughts altogether -- many of us deal with an internal conflict when someone's behaviour is not in alignment with the role they play in our lives. Much of the time, it is the labels that we give to people that make it mentally challenging for us to conclude that maybe we got it wrong. Just because someone carries the title of "friend" doesn't mean that their behaviour matches. Just because someone is near and dear to your heart, doesn't necessarily mean they feel the same about you. This is regardless of the role they play and how long they have played that role in your life.
