Education and propaganda with Zak Stein

Zak Stein is an author, scholar, educational philosopher, and one of the luminaries of our time.  He was invited to MMA to talk about the current state of education and school—the difference between education and school and education and propaganda.  He talked about the dangers of a world without ‘teacherly authority,’ the differences between false gurus or simulated teachers, and the genuine organic relationships and transgenerational transmission necessary for learning.  He spoke about how in our apocalyptic times, education is most authentic in hidden mystery schools found in the peripheries of society—how schools today are counterproductive to learning.  He shared his research on John Amos Comenius, who defined education broadly as teaching ‘all things to all people in all ways'.
