Education: Limiting the Scope of Civility | Why Demanding Accountability is the Considerate Response

from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent

#education #accountability #community   Hello Everyone,    I hope all is well.   Welcome to our second segment on Education this week 😊   On today's topic of discussion we're critiquing the expectations inherent in being polite.   Many of us grew up in an environment that valued harmony over principle. It is better to keep the peace than to "rock the boat." As such, as adults we learn the virtue of turning the other cheek and rising above a slight. Hoping that life and the universe will course correct those whose behaviours have harmed us.   Though few of us know to what extent.   There comes a time, where the value of harmony requires that we speak up and hold people accountability to behaviours that are harmful, self-seeking, and self-interested. Where it is the case that silence means enablement, it means that people are rewarded (sometimes celebrated) for wrong doing -- we are in fact doing our communities more harm than good.   While speaking up is rarely the comfortable option, there are situations where it is the only option.   Do you have any questions regarding our parent-child workshops?
