The MIPS program was designed to adjust Medicare payments based on clinical performance. MIPS only applies to eligible professionals whose practice caters to Medicare Part B beneficiaries. MIPS evaluates the clinical performance of eligible professionals using a composite performance score, comparing performance on a measure to measure benchmark. The results indicate whether the eligible professional will receive a decrease, an increase, or the same Medicare reimbursement for Part B claims.
