Education: Our Miseducation Concerning Respect | Learning & Teaching the Art of Reciprocal Respect

from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent

#Education #Reciprocity #Respect  Hello Everyone,   Welcome to our first segment on Education, this week 😊   In today's episode, we are critiquing our general understanding of respect.  Specifically, how most of us define respect based on our personal experience in both giving and receiving respect from others.    While seemingly straightforward, not all of us have healthy examples, or expectations, placed on us when it came to giving and receiving respect. Many of us were taught that respect is unilateral, we need to give it, but shouldn't expect to receive it in return -- and this working definition is becoming more problematic, as situations are brought to our attention of individuals who take advantage of this disproportionality.   Which brings us to the idea of reciprocal respect - expecting to receive respect as much as we give it, as a baseline, and as a guideline to enable ourselves to distinguish healthy dynamics from toxic ones. #Education #Miseducation #Respect #Reciprocity #HealthyDynamics #CriticalSkillset #Relationships    Do you have any questions?
