Education: Power of Influence | Thinking Critically On Narratives Shared by Formal Authority Figures

from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent

#Education #Abuse #Authority 0:00 - 2:30 - Intro 2:30 - 11:19 - Narratives Shared by People in Positions of Authority 11:19 - Wrap Up Hello Everyone, I hope all is well. Welcome to our second segment on Education this week 😊 In today's conversation we're talking about the growing need to think critically about narratives shared by people in positions of authority.More specifically, we're talking about why it's problematic to blindly trust any individual simply because of their title, status, or position of formal authority. There are many who have faced abuse and oppression from those who claim to serve and protect. Much of the mistreatment enabled by well intentioned members of the community, who failed to ask the critical questions when provided a narrative about the individual, and a call for action and/or support. As the old adage says, "The pathway to hell is paved with good intentions." The impact and the harm created by our actions outweighs our goodwill and desire to help. So, if it is help you are looking to provide start by making sure there are no cracks in the narrative, and any cause to doubt. Much of abuse takes place because we are blind to the signals of its existence. The importance of thinking critically, asking questions, and being 100% satisfied with the responses before you invest your time and energy into a trajectory is more important today than it was at any point in history.
