A 2012 article reported in the Archives of Internal Medicine that 45.8% of physicians surveyed reported having either emotional exhaustion, depersonalization or low personal accomplishment in their work. A Harris Interactive online survey in 2013 revealed that 60 percent of healthcare workers felt burned out on their jobs. The Wealthy Dentist surveyed their readership in 2000 and 81% of dentists reported professional burnout in their careers. Why is this so? What can be done? We will explore these questions in our session. Objectives: 1. Explore Why we do what we do. 2. Identify the demands of work, life, and ministry and how we nd a balance. 3. Discuss the symptoms of burnout. 4. Identify ways to relieve stress. 5. Challenge attendees to live radically resulting in perpetual joy.
