Eén jaar oorlog in Gaza

De oorlog in Gaza duurt nu 1 jaar. Op 7 oktober vorig jaar viel Hamas Israël binnen. Daarbij kwamen zeker 12 honderd mensen om het leven, onder meer op een groot festival. Meteen erna startte Israël een groot offensief. Het ministerie van Gezondheid, onder leiding van Hamas, spreekt over meer dan 40 duizend doden in Gaza. Mensen die het overleefd hebben zijn vaak alles kwijt en hebben te weinig eten. Sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog vielen er niet meer zoveel Joodse slachtoffers op 1 dag. Ook werden er 250 mensen gegijzeld. Van die gijzelaars zitten er nog zo'n honderd vast in Gaza. Onbekend is hoeveel van hen nog in leven zijn. Israël startte daarna de oorlog in Gaza. Maar uiteindelijk bleef het daar niet bij. De Houthi-rebellen sloten zich aan bij Hamas, vanuit Jemen en blokkeren de internationale zeevaart voor het Westen in de Rode Zee. Ook voeren zij aanvallen uit. En recenter is er natuurlijk de oorlog met Hezbollah en de oorlog met Iran. Eén jaar na 7 oktober 2023 staat het Midden-Oosten in brand. Maar ook in ons eigen land maakt deze oorlog heel veel emoties los. In drie gesprekken blikken we terug en kijken we vooruit.
