Lesson Five: The Gospel is glorious because of its great blessings = results B. Intro: We have seen the Gospel is glorious because of its definition; because of its message; because of its power and because it gives new life = result A. Today we will discuss the wonderful blessings given to us because of the Gospel: 1. Because of the gospel we have been given spiritual blessings. Text Eph 1:3 • All of our blessings come from God our Father and from Jesus Christ. Illus. of last weeks lesson. James 1:17 • Physical blessing can inhibit our "walk" with God. - Example of Israel. Deut. 8:10-14 - Example of excuse makers. Luke 14:18-21 • Spiritual blessings will always enhance our "walk" with God. - They cause us to live holy. Eph 1:4 - They cause us to give God the glory. Eph. 1:3a, 6 - They guarantee physical blessings. Matt. 6:33 2. Because of the gospel we have been forgiven. Eph. 1:7 • This is possible only by the blood of Jesus.V7a = Gospel - We have been redeemed. Ref. Col. 1:14; 1 Peter 1:18-19 • We have the forgiveness of sins. V7b Ref. John 1:29 - Everyone needs forgiveness. Rom. 3:23; Rom.; 7:13 - Our sins nailed Jesus to the cross. Col. 2:14; 1 Pet. 2:24 - Our sins are buried because Jesus was buried. Ref. Micah 7:19 1Cor 15:4 = the Gospel - Our sins are gone because Jesus removed them. Rom. 4:7; Heb. 10:17; Rev. 1:5 • We are forgiven because of the Grace of Jesus. Eph. 1:7c. 2:8-9 3. Because of the gospel we have been given the knowledge of God's will. V9 • We know the plans of God throughout time. Eph.1:10 = Seven dispensations, Ret. Jer 29:11 • We know it is the will of God for everyone to believe the gospel. Acts 10:43; 2 Peter3:9 Conclusion: Thank God for these spiritual blessings!
