Bonnie beantwortet mit diesem kurzen Vortrag die brennenden Fragen unserer Zeit und zeigt dabei auch gleich noch einen Lösungsweg auf, um digitale Souveränität in der öffentlichen Verwaltungen zu erreichen. Unter dem Slogan “Public Money? Public Code!” ruft die Free Software Foundation Europe gemeinsam mit über 230 Organisationen und öffentlichen Verwaltungen dazu auf Software, welche durch öffentliche Gelder finanziert wird, als Freie Software zu veröffentlichen. Das langfristige Ziel der Initiative ist die Softwareabhängigkeit und den Vendor Lock-in der öffentlichen Verwaltung zu reduzieren, sowie öffentliche Verwaltungen digital unabhängig und souverän aufzustellen.
