Ekev (#4 of 4) How to get out of the wilderness alive!

from Voice for Israel · host Hannah Nesher

"And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not"  (Deuteronomy 8:2) The wilderness is not a comfortable place for any of us - but it is a necessary part of our spiritual journey of faith.  It is where God humbles us, tests us and sees what is in our heart.  All the great people of God in the Bible went through their own wilderness.  The wilderness (or desert - in Hebrew 'midbar') is related to the word midaber which means to speak.  In the wilderness times of our lives, God can speak to our hearts.  How we respond to our wilderness experience may determine how long we stay there - or even whether or not we get out alive!
