Oasis debutó en 1994 con el álbum «Definitely Maybe», tres años después de la formación del grupo. Publicado el 29 de agosto de ese año, es el único disco que cuenta con los cinco miembros originales. Las semillas de «Definitely Maybe» se plantaron a finales de 1993. La discográfica Creation Records buscó recrear el sonido directo y crudo que buscaban los hermanos Noel y Liam Gallagher. El productor Owen Morris mezcló el disco, dándole un sonido más alto que cualquier otro álbum publicado hasta el momento. Cuando «Definitely Maybe» llegó a las tiendas de discos, fue un éxito para público y crítica en el Reino Unido, donde alcanzó rápidamente el #1.
