Mariano Díez Tobar, padre paúl y eminente científico nacido en 1868 en Tardajos, pudo haber sido el inventor del cinematógrafo. Tras ofrecer una conferencia en Bilbao sobre este invento, se reunió con el empresario francés Flamereau, representante de los Lumière, a quien cedió sus investigaciones.
