El Sombrerón
from Historias, pesadillas urbanas de Terror
In the cobblestone streets of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, under the dim light of the moon, an enigmatic figure hides, a presence that whispers promises of wealth and love, but drags with it an aura of mystery and terror: El Sombrerón, his silhouette, tall and slender, is distinguished by a wide-brimmed hat that hides his face in the gloom, a hat that seems to have a life of its own, undulating and moving with a sinister will. The hat is said to possess the power to change its appearance, adapting itself to the desire of the woman it seeks to conquer: To the young women of the city, it presents itself as a handsome, captivating look and sweet words. To rural women, he offers the image of a sturdy rancher with strong hands and a noble heart. And to indigenous women, he transforms himself into a tall and mysterious Indian with a deep connection to the land and its secrets. His weapon of seduction is jewelry: gold necklaces that sparkle in the moonlight, silver earrings that jingle with every movement, and precious stones that promise a life of luxury and pleasure.
