Elaine Travis | Color Educator

Color Educator + Salon Owner, Elaine Travis has been doing hair for 35+ years! But, gone are Elaine's days of coming in early, staying late, working on days off + lunch to see 15 clients a day!   For 17 years, she owned a traditional salon before having a brilliant (not so brilliant) idea of opening a 2nd location and cut the ties with all the services she didn’t like doing and specialized in color which she was always obsessed with. She has since transitioned to online business + education --- feeling a little guilty because Covid (2020) was a great year because online education piece was in place. Now, she mentors 300 members--- not a single one fresh out of school! Hairdressers don’t retire they die and Elaine loves sharing her experiences with people who are still in it! Pro-Tips: 1. You have to plan for holes/ruts! Don't do bridal hair because every single cycle 4-6 weeks you have a dead day with bridal party because you’re not booking brides every 6 weeks.  2. Be choosy about who is in your chair and do what you love 3. Naturalize it — turn it into a color that can be corrected ie) orange on blue direct dye. Sometimes we panic and throw bleach on things when not necessary. Knowledge is power! Loves this career because: Of all my friends I was the happiest and made the most money!
