Welcome to the Tweed Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl. And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends.

It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Hey there, Tweed Trends family. It is Election Day, and let me tell you, I've got a lot to talk about, so let's get started. On a regular day of the week, I have a gang of stuff to say.

So the fact that today is Election Day, I have got even more stuff to say. So let me start by saying this morning, my daughter woke up at the crack of dawn. And I'm looking at her like, dude, you don't have school today. Why are you up?

And don't you know what she wanted to do? She asked me if she could turn on the news. She's got the election bug. Oh my gosh, yesterday she had to do some reading about the two presidential candidates, and she was giving me all of the tea about what she had read about them, and was just so excited, and was asking all these questions.

And out of the blue last night before going to bed, she wants to know, can we explain the electoral college? Because she didn't even really know what was called. They liked the electoral college. She was kind of like, we explain college to me.

And I started doing that. I was like, oh, no, no, no. That's not the type of college I mean, the kind with the voting. And it's like, oh, the electoral college got it.

Let me backtrack. Let me clean that up, forget everything I said. But I am so excited and proud that she's actually taking an interest because honestly, she's seven. She would rather be watching cartoons.

I'm so sure. But there's something about this now. I will give Girl Scouts a credit as well. Because she just finished a woman's suffrage program.

And it also talked about government. And she learned a lot about the fact that women have not had the right to vote but for so long. And as a matter of fact, I'm going to have the link to her final culminating project that she had to do in order to earn her 19th Amendment patch so that you guys can check out what my baby did. She did it.

And she's so proud of herself. And I'm proud of her too. But yeah, so like I was saying, there's a lot of stuff to unpack here today. So let's move on to the next point.

So the fact that the show is called Tweet Trends. I got to tell you about what's trending on Twitter, right? And for the most part, everything is about the election. Now there are a few sports topics that are trending, mainly guys on various teams and what's happening with them.

And there were a couple that I could not quite put my finger on exactly what it was that they were talking about. But the majority of them, it was hashtag vote 2020, hashtag I voted, hashtag elections 2020, election day. And then there was this crazy one here. It was Kanye.

What the what? Why is Kanye trending? And so it's funny because initially when I went to it and I looked, all of the stuff was from him. And I'm like, dang, Kanye can tweet about himself that much that he makes his own self trend.

But then I figured it out. So he is very proud of himself. And I'm very proud of him too. He is saying that this is the first time in his entire life that he has ever voted in a presidential election.

Yay, Kanye. Whoop, whoop. You know, kudos to you. And how do I know this?

Because he put it all out there on Twitter. On top of that, what I also know is that I don't know how many people are voting for him. But if there is only one vote, we will all know who that one vote was. And it was him.

He showed us when he put his ballot into the machine to be read. And you clearly saw in there that he had his own name written in as president. So then I'm like, OK, is this self-serving? Is this the only time you're voting for president?

Because this is the only time you have run for president in your entire life? But it gets worse, guys. It gets worse. Only Kanye can do this, right?

So he's got the receipts. I'm telling you, he's showing us video of him putting his ballot into the machine and it being read. But you know how we do. When you show us something, we are going to stop that video or picture.

We're going to search all around it. Because we're like little detectives when it comes to social media, right? And if you look at the ballot that he puts into that machine dog at eye, tell you no lie. The only thing on that side of the ballot that you see is his name with a bubble filled in written in for president.

This Jack did not vote for anything else on that dog gone ballot. I can't make this stuff up, guys. I can't go on Twitter and see for yourself. It is a blank, stinking ballot, other than voting for himself as president.

So now I got issues. Because in the beginning, I was happy for him. Like, yes, you go, boy. And now I'm like, no, you go.

Go out the door. Kick him out the classroom. Kick him out the day is not over, guys. And especially if you're on the West Coast, you got plenty of time.

But either way, even on the East Coast, you got plenty of time. The polls are still open. So if you did not take advantage of early voting, which I don't know why you wouldn't, but if you are like a traditionalist, I guess, and believe in voting on election day, then today is your day. This is your moment.

Go make it happen. Make that magic happen. Get in line. I don't even know.

I haven't heard much. I said I was going to go by some of the polling areas here in our area. Because I'm an absentee voter. I voted, gosh, beginning of last month, mid month.

It was a while ago. And I called to make sure that it was received. And she was able to verify the date that I did it, is a date that was in her computer. Perfect.

Awesome. But for those of you traditionalists out there that said, nope, November 3rd is the date that I cast my ballot. And I don't care what nobody else says, then, hey, be prepared. Be prepared.

Bring whatever documentation you think you may need, just in case because you never know. You never know. And so I got two gems here to drop on you. One is Iwillvote.com.

And the other is 866-our-vote.org. Now 866-our-vote is an actual toll-free phone number that you can call if you need assistance. Like if you get to the polls and there is a problem, call them. 866-our-vote, which that translates to 866-687-8683.

That's 866-687-8683. And on top of that, you can call that number. You can chat with them. I mean, shoot, you're going to be there in that line.

So you can chat with them on your mobile device. You can text them. They have languages. They've got Arabic, Spanish, Asian, and of course English.

You've got to have English. But if you are having any type of issue, please don't hesitate. Don't walk out. And if the lines are long, don't walk out because this means so much.

I'm not telling you who to vote for, but I'm telling you to vote. There should be a conviction on you. Like going through that suffrage program with my daughter and reading for myself, like getting down deep and dirty with it and hearing and seeing and understanding what it took to get women the right to vote, what it took for African-Americans to get the right to vote, and other minorities. It means so much, guys.

It really does. People have fought long and hard. And there are some people that fought for this that were not alive to see it come to pass. They did not see it come to fruition.

And the fact that we have this superpower, if you will, where we can go into our little phone booth, so to speak, and make a decision about something. And once again, don't just do straight ticket. I mean, if you want to do straight ticket, that's your business. But what I'm saying is there are other positions.

There are other referendums on the ballot that is not going to automatically select something just because you picked a Democratic slate or a Republican slate. It's not going to happen. You've got your school board members. You need to select them because those are nonpartisan positions.

There's always some type of referendum on the ballot to vote for. Make sure you understand what it is saying, the way that it is written, because they try to get tricky. They will try to trip you up and make it sound like it's saying one thing, but in actuality, it's saying something else. So make sure you take a look at those things.

Now, it may be too late for you to figure out as far as school board and all the other little nonpartisan positions, simply because a lot of times they don't get all of the pomp and circumstance. You're not going to see them in television ads. You're not going to see them highlighted anywhere unless they're highlighting themselves or they're making the space for themselves. As a matter of fact, I am working on a campaign for one of my best friends.

He's running for school board. And I'm really excited. We're going to have our little virtual watch party later on this evening. But so it may be too late for you for this particular election.

But you know one thing I'm very excited about? I'm excited about tomorrow, because tomorrow is when we begin the work for the next election. So if there's stuff that you don't like, then dog it, you either throw your own hat into the ring or you find somebody, follow behind, you help somebody else that you know that is speaking your language, is talking to the talk that you want to hear said. And do that.

But don't just sit around and complain, because if you sit around and complain, but you don't do anything to make it better, then what's your point? What? Seriously, what's your point? All right, well, that's today's election day version of Tweet Trends.

I hope you enjoyed it. I hope I did not go off on a rant on my soapbox for too long. But that's a pet peeve of mine. If you see something wrong, then when you address it, make sure you come with a solution.

If you think that whoever is in place is not doing a good job, then you step up, or you groom the person that you think is going to do a better job. But don't just sit around and complain. You've got to put some action behind it. You just cannot just be a griper.

You've got to be a doer. So anyway, like I said, thanks for joining me for today's episode. Remember, Iwillvote.com or 866-our-vote.org. Enjoy the rest of your election day.

If you're standing in line, hey, listen to this episode a couple of times, you know? Or listen to some of the other episodes. We've got lots of entertainment for you. Outside of that, hopefully everything will work out in your favor.

And if not, then guess what? Tomorrow is the first day of the next season of preparation for the next election. Have a great one, guys. And I'll see you back here on Thursday.
