Elevate Your Communication By Immersing Yourself In The Language

This week's podcast may seem a bit off-topic from my usual interviews, but on the other hand not really. I always like to interview people who are using their voice to make a difference and today's podcast guest is no exception.  Kareem teaches people how to use their voice to make a difference through language skills.  Kareem teaches conversational Arabic. He is the Founder of the School Of Yalla. As someone who has travelled a lot and lived in many countries, I do believe immersing yourself in the language of the country you are living in is helpful to establish deeper relationships and have a better understanding of a culture.  When living in Germany, I learned German. When living in Belgium, I learned Flemish. However, since living in Dubai, I'm ashamed to say, I have not managed to learn Arabic, bu not from a lack of trying.  We talk about the barriers faced when learning Modern Standard Arabic as opposed to conversational Arabic. Kareem teaches us his 'Focus 15' method for learning almost anything, but especially a language.  Also the importance of consistency, and the motivational power of setting small, achievable goals.  Kareem delves into the differences between Fusha (Modern Standard Arabic) and conversational Arabic.
