Elevator etiquette

When you get on an elevator what do you do if you're alone do you stand in the back or do you stand in front of the buttons if you're with others do you stand behind them on the other side where are you just staying in silence and look at the floors pass by do you pressure floor or as someone else to do it I'm in an elevator at least twice a week and I think about it often.
