Good morning, it's Saturday. This is Guru's Tech Bytes, episode 118. First up, apparently elevators are getting smart now, which is great because I always wanted a tiny metal box judging my life choices. You know what this reminds me of, that time I got stuck in one with a guy who said he invented the word 'buffoon,' but it turns out he just really liked balloons. Anyway, they got computers running the cables now, let's just hope they don't run Windows or we'll all be stuck between floors for four hours while it installs an update. Second, Google fixed more Chrome bugs in June than over the past two years, thanks to AI. Look, I don't trust AI as far as I can throw it, but if a robot wants to sit there and find out why my browser crashes every time I look up meatball recipes, more power to it. It's probably doing a better job than the guys at Microsoft, who just look at a bug, shrug, and tell you to buy a new laptop. Heh. Hhh, okay, that's something. I'm just saying, at least the Google bot is doing something productive instead of stealing my job. Third, there's this thing called qm, some multiplayer agent harness for work. I don't know what that means, and frankly, I'm afraid to ask. When I hear 'multiplayer agent,' I think of some fella in a suit playing a video game with my tax returns. If an AI can do my work, great, but does it also have to deal with Peter from accounting stealing my lunch out of the fridge? Because if a robot steals my meatball sub, we're gonna have a real problem. And finally, there's a big hubbub about Big Food versus the People. The big corporations are putting all sorts of weird stuff in the groceries, which is probably why my left knee sounds like a bowl of Rice Krispies every time I get off the couch. It's ridiculous. You go to the store for some fresh potatoes and you need a chemistry degree just to read the bag.
