Eli Escobar interviewed Mrs. Jennifer Reeder

from Eye On Houston

Eli Escobar interviewed  Mrs. Jennifer Reeder from the Alzheimer’s Foundation. They will be hosting a free brain health webinar for Texas veterans and their families on October 5th.  Attendees will learn about brain health, healthy aging, early detection, memory screenings, and local resources. Alzheimer’s Foundation is based in New York, but will have one local expert speaker from Texas.  Veterans may be at a higher risk for dementia based on their military experiences. A traumatic brain injury (TBI), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or being a prisoner of war can all increase the chances of developing dementia.   In addition, the risk of dementia also increases as we age. One in seven veterans ages 45 and over report experiencing memory problems, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Locally, this is a big issue because there are more veterans in Texas than any other state in the country other than California.
