Interestingly, he points out that both John the Baptist and Jesus opposed the spirit of Jezebel. While John condemned Herod and Herodias for their adultery, Jesus chose to respond with wisdom, as he came to save the lost and could not allow political threats to interfere with his mission. Joseph further cites Malachi 4:5-6 to underscore the role of the spirit of Elijah as demonstrated in John the Baptist. He clarifies that God raises reformers like John in the spirit of Elijah to effectuate reformation.
