Organized by genre, this extensive yet accessible volume surveys Jewish cultural production and intellectual innovation during these dramatic years, particularly in literature, the visual and performing arts, and intellectual culture. Interviewees: Elisheva Carlebach is the editor of The Posen Library of Jewish Culture and Civilization, Volume 6, and the Salo Wittmayer Baron Professor of Jewish History, Culture, and Society and director of the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies at Columbia University. Francesca Bregoli was a consultant for The Posen Library of Jewish Culture and Civilization, Volume 6, and is Associate Professor at Queens College and is currently serving as director of the Center for Jewish Studies at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Mayer Juni was a consultant for The Posen Library of Jewish Culture and Civilization, Volume 6, and is a Postdoctoral Associate at Cornell University in the Department of History, where he is also the incoming Slovin Assistant Professor of History and American Jewish Studies. Schneur Zalman Newfield is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Borough of Manhattan Community College, City University of New York, and the author of Degrees of Separation: Identity Formation While Leaving Ultra-Orthodox Judaism (Temple University Press, 2020).
