Today, Elizabeth Siders became the latest grown-up in the Ohio 16 case to face a formal mental-health question in court. In an August 4, 2026 filing, her attorney asked the Vinton County court to order an evaluation on two issues: whether she’s competent to stand trial now, and whether she may have been not guilty by reason of insanity at the time of the alleged offenses. Siders remains charged with 16 felony counts, and the growing stack of competency questions now raises a much bigger issue: who, if anyone, will be found fit to stand trial?
