Every year, the distinctive sound of elk bugling can be heard in the Elk State Forest.  That high-pitched sound comes from male elk that bugle during the breeding season to attract potential mates and to establish dominance. It’s the sound of these bugles and the sight of these majestic creatures that brings more than half a million visitors to northcentral Pennsylvania every year.
