Elliot Page, Kevin Clancy, and the “You Problem” Problem!
from The Year of the Cow - A Ryan Fair Podcast Hosted by Ryan Fair
This episode examines the online fight over Elliot Page’s casting, Kevin Clancy’s “you problem” response, and the engagement machine feeding both sides. The point isn’t outrage. Most Americans have mortgages, groceries, jobs, and actual problems demanding their attention. But when media personalities deliberately launch a cultural argument for clicks, they cannot dismiss everyone who answers as irrational. Hollywood made a provocative choice; audiences are allowed to question it. We also revisit the transgender sports debate, where legitimate questions about fairness were often treated as moral failures. Follow the controversy, follow the incentives, and eventually you find the motive: engagement pays.
