Hello everybody, what's up with the elseworlds exchange? I'm Sal. And I'm Joel. Hey Joel, what's going on my friend?
Oh, not a whole lot. New comic book day doing that, but I'm also really happy because it's elseworlds exchange day and I get to hang out with you and I get to hang out with the population. So it's a good day. Thank you, sir.
I'm happy to have you. Welcome back. And yeah, it is new comic book day, but this is not the show where we talk about new comics. That was another show and we'll see more about that in the future.
But for now, we are going to talk about something more topical. We were, you know, this show normally is one topic for an hour. In this case today's topic, I wanted to go more relevant. I thought we'd talk about something a little bit more like in the here and now.
And as Joel reminded me, a number of trailers dropped over the last couple of days. Like all of them. We have one more left, but I thought we'd kind of use that for speculation time. But we should talk about some of those trailers because they're big and they're pertinent to our interest.
Exactly. Exactly. They're relevant to our spheres of influence, so to speak. So as you can tell from this cover, we are going to talk about the solo trailer, a Star Wars story.
We are going to be talking about Deadpool 2, the meat cable trailer. Jessica Jones, season two got a trailer. And Venom has been threatened a Venom trailer for tomorrow. Boy, did they gun to your head.
Venom is coming out. Venom's coming out and we put Tom Hardy in it. So anyone who says that it's movie sucks is going to have to answer. Everybody who thinks that Tom Hardy is the greatest.
And that was like a genius move on their part. Like we were actually, I'm going to look at these trailers through the lens of Venom because like, man, you know, Sony has been trying to make this Venom movie since Spider-Man 3. I guarantee you, they were like, I know that we want to show him Venom into the Spider-Man movie that has the least interesting villain ever. But can we maybe extricate Venom from that make a Venom movie just on his own?
We got to crack the code on this Venom. Venom is a fortune waiting to be tapped, apparently, because it's 1990 apparently. Yeah, exactly. Because it's 1994 and holographic covers with Mark Bagley, Eric Larson type art is the way to go.
I don't know. It's unbelievable what they're doing. But also this Eddie Brock won't really be Eddie Brock from what we understand. He'll be Eddie Brock in name only because they steal some more interesting stuff from Flash Thompson.
Naturally, I mean, why not? I mean, that's the, that's been the most consistently well regarded Venom. Yeah. Everybody loves Eddie Brock, of course, because he looks cool, but the character Venom has never really been that cliquey with people until it became Flash Thompson.
They just something good with it. Like, man, oh man, was that a cool version of Venom? It's too bad that that's not the version they want. There's no way that they want to make a movie about a soldier in Iraq who loses his legs, gets a government-sponsored alien costume, and then he goes on covert missions as Agent Ben- there's no way.
Yeah, that would be interesting. They want to do the movie where he's like crawling around where he looks like Spider-Man, but has a big, scary mouth and eyes. And yet also we won't have Spider-Man in this movie for some reason though. So we'll do Venom who is famous because he has a dark, crack-meer version of Spider-Man, but we won't reference Spider-Man at all.
No, we're not gonna put Spider-Man in it because what if it fails? Yeah. But also wouldn't it help us if it didn't fail? Trace Danzig in the Super Chassis.
You guys rule! Sound of the 3D printed bag of stuff is coming your way for the letters page. Has to shut up any. Thank you very much.
Yeah, so let's jump into these trailers. I think we should talk about Jessica Jones. What? All right, Jessica Jones Season 2, you reminded me that this trailer came out.
I completely, I don't know how I just missed it. And it's coming out sooner than we think it's coming out in March. Yeah, whoa, oh crap. Well, what do you think of the trailer?
Because it's very different from the show we were pitched months ago. Absolutely. It really is. I'm gonna call it Daredevil's a close second and it's probably the best one.
But I like Jessica Jones if only because I thought it was the best paste of all the Marvel Netflix shows. Yeah. Well, mainly because they paced it like a regular TV show with act breaks and everything. And, you know, episodes with three arc structures.
You could watch an episode and be happy and then just move on. This one looks interesting because I assumed they would be following up with the whole Frank Simpson nuke thing from the end of Season 2. And the maybe in human growth hormone, maybe not all that other stuff they were talking about. But no, they seem to actually be kind of pulling it back a little bit and being like, what if Jessica tried to figure out the origins of her powers and where that came from?
And maybe she'll run into some more super powered individuals and wouldn't that be a thing? I'm like, oh, okay. I guess that'd be a thing. I thought it was a thing in Defenders when she was hanging out with super powered people then.
But I guess we could do that again. I was hoping that Jessica Jones Season 2 was literally just gonna be the rest of Alias. Me too. Which is gonna be like, oh, she goes to that little town that hates mutants and she tries to bang that sheriff.
And he gets put off by her like forwardcy, like lifestyle. There's a lot of really, really cool stuff to mine out of that that that you didn't get into do because, intelligently enough, they focused a lot on Purple Man. Yeah. Which I guess is what people all remember from Jessica Jones anyway.
So I guess that makes sense that that was what they would lead with. But they also played with the idea of Hellcat really coming into her own as Hellcat and becoming like Jess's sidekick and everything. So they're further growing the franchise? Yeah, I guess.
I was really excited to see more Hellcat. I hope that if and when they do, we should talk about this after we talk about the trailer, just the future of Netflix Marvel for just a minute. But remind me about the Patsy Walker thing because like Brian Cauhun in the Super Chasers, I too miss the Jessica Jones trailer, hashtag SeanBenny, go watch it if you haven't already. When this video is finished, I will put links for all the trailers we discussed in the description below this video.
For now, we are in the middle of rain slash no storm here in Jersey. So as such, I couldn't make it to the office despite the fact that it's only a few miles away from here. But that being said, we do have a setup here. This is how we used to show.
So we are still going to make it work here. Throwback this week. Exactly. So yeah, Jessica Jones season two, you know what's funny about it is that like when they announced it and when they were like publicity photos for it, it was all Purple Man.
They're like Purple Man. Come back. This trailer, forget Purple Man. No, it's not really about that.
It's about Jessica Jones finding out the origins of her past. And even when they do allude to Purple Man, it's like he's probably not really there. He probably exists as a figment of Jessica Jones's trauma and he might pipe in every so often like the Joker and Arkham Knights. Or Geinan in The Nexus in Just Our Triganders.
Just think of me as an echo of the previous you once knew. You know what, hey, if David Tenn gets to come back and gets to play that role and if they're going to be all, you know, kind of trippy with it, maybe he can't have full Purple skin this time. I mean, better than just the one few seconds that like he was purple and I'm like, okay fine, we're going to get him Purple on this one, like two episodes left of the show. Oh no, it's just not.
Okay fine. I mean, I can understand why you killed him. You built him up as being way too dangerous to live. But at the same time, it's like, no, but I liked him.
Yeah, but why is it that these shows all have better Marvel villains in the movies? I know. I know, right. So except for Diamondback, I guess he kind of said, yeah, Diamondback was kind of lame in the fucking Meachums and Iron Fist.
You forgot the Meachums even existed. That's how bad they did. I dug the shit out of the, out of the Faramir, Meachum. That's the dad.
He was cool. I don't know his fucking name, but like Faram, he played Faramir in Lord of the Rings. That's right. He did.
But that dude, like he was cool and scary and he was like, he clearly dies and comes back to life. Like for me, that was the clincher for like, okay, good. They're doing, they're saying magic's real. Like they're saying that like the mysticism is real and it happens and like, that's cool.
I'm in. And he was kind of scary and neat. Like, and the fact that every time he came back to life was more crazy. I'm like, this is, I got shades of Norman Osborn in that character.
Okay, that is the thing. I will give you that. There was a good chunk of the show where I'm like, this guy's just Norman Osborn and everything, but named shitty relationship with his son, kind of crazy. Yeah, he's basically just Norman Osborn.
Yeah. Oh man, yeah. Oh man. Thinking about Diamondback reminded me of Cottonmouth and how much, how excited I was to see him for the rest of the show and then, no, we don't see him for the rest of the show.
I'm like, oh, we're, we're, we're. I'm like, dude, a play Diamondback did a nice job. His suit was stupid, but he wore suits and I give him props. I give them props for being like, suit, he's super dope.
Yeah, the suit was stupid and it was also 100% accurate. Right. It's like sometimes it's gonna look stupid. It is where it's like, oh, oh, I asked for this.
Then you gave it to me and I didn't want it. Yeah. But if you don't, but if you want to like, if you want to use the Bendis Defenders version of Diamondback, like, knock yourselves out. That'd be cool.
That's a pretty solid one. Because that actor's still really good. Like he does an age job. Like when he's like stalking Luke Cage in the city when you first meet him, I was like, that's kind of cool.
He's basically the black joker. He's great. I did that. But Jessica Jones is trailer.
Like as far as the trailer goes, I think it does a great job of setting up what the show's gonna be while also leaving us without much detail about what's actually gonna happen, which I really like that kind of trailer. I like that kind of trailer. Like these are cool moments, but not the coolest of moments and we also didn't tell you everything that happened. Yeah, don't give it all away.
That's a real problem in modern trailers for movies and TV where they just kind of give everything away. Exactly. Because they're afraid you won't see it. One thing, I guess because this will be the first post-defenders era show for the Marvel Knights.
You're punished or technically didn't count because he didn't really get to join the defenders. I was really expecting him to do that. I know. We see her drinking at what I can only assume is Josie's bar there.
So does that mean Matt Murdock or anyone else to just stumble in at any point because they've established that they drink there? I mean, here's the thing. I've almost given up entire hope of any main character appearing in any of the other shows since literally every show after Daredevil has a scene where there's a moment where Daredevil or Matt Murdock could come in and say, stop talking. I'm Matt Murdock.
I'm your attorney. And never, never is there a moment. The close thing you get is you get, what's his name? You get, no, no, you get Claire going, I know a guy.
And you're like, well, maybe you should freakin' after three shows. Maybe you should call him. And then finally the defenders were like, oh my God. Claire always shows up and Danny Rand's lawyer always shows up.
Yes. Oh yeah, that's right. Hogarth. Hogarth, who I really like to go to Jessica Jones and she's back too for this, which I really.
And I feel good. I don't think she's going to be woefully underused like she is in like everything else except for Jessica Jones. Yeah. Cause she's a great actress and Carrie, I'm all freaking rocks.
And freaking complicated in Jessica Jones season one. She had a hell of an arc. Big time, big time. So other, like based on the strength of Jessica Jones season one, I was already high for season two.
It was a nice job. I'm not like freaking out. I'm not frothing at the mouth for more Jessica Jones. But I'm like, the trailer does a nice job of just setting things up.
I'm like, okay, I think I see where you're going with this. I'm on board. They set up some potential new antagonist new. Apparently there's a serial killer running around who may or may not be super power.
Cool. There's the looming threat of nuke possibly coming back. Please let him have an American flag on his face when he comes back. I think so.
Oh, you got. I was saying also that Asian guy who also seems to be a detective and who seems to try and be absorbing alias detective services. Yes, that'll be cool. That's an I like the subplots where it's like, no, no, my personal life is being affected by this thing elsewhere that's not connected to the villain or the main plot.
These are the things that make that ground the story make me interested. Absolutely. I don't think you're going to see Nuke in the show. I think you're going to see Nuke in Daredevil season three.
Oh, okay. I can bet. If he shows up the way I think he will show up, it's going to be baller because that will be good. That will be good.
If season three is Daredevil born again, Nuke's in it and it's awesome. Fingers crossed. That's where it's going to be. Because yeah, he needs to have the American flag.
He needs to be in a helicopter. He needs to start setting fire in Hell's kitchen. Oh, I'm on board. Oh, so good.
So good. Yeah, I think we've chatted about Jessica Jones. Unless there's any other final thoughts you have. Any predictions or expectations for Jessica Jones season two?
I think Patsy Walker Hellcat might put on a costume by the end of it, that might be her thing. I don't think she's going to. I think she'll never put on a costume. I think they'll never.
That'll be the other thing there. The no costumes. Yeah, I think they're never going to do it. Because here's the thing about Marvel Netflix.
I've heard that it's over. Really? Yeah, that like everything in production now is going to be done and in production and fulfilled, but that there's no more that they're pursuing. Punisher was the last new Netflix show you will see.
Really. I've heard that rumor and I get that suspicion that like Disney Marvel might just close up shop on the Netflix shows, which is because of their new streaming app they're doing. They want their own. They want more control.
I think so. I think that even though it has been said in public and in articles that the Netflix shows will not be touched, you know, or affected by the upcoming Disney streaming deal, if and when the Disney Fox merger goes through it means that they'll own Hulu and it means that they'll have not only a competing service, but also a existing service for streaming. I think that they'll either decide to start pushing them on that format or they'll go and I think we're done. I think I think I think we've done them all and here's the thing like most of these are kind of all rated and we're kind of moving in another direction.
It's like why pay for milk when we have our own cows. We could be male. Oh, yes, exactly. That said, that sucks and I'm very disappointed by it, but and this is something that my colleagues have kind of disagree with me on, but like I think that Charlie Cox could run a movie.
I think that Ritter could do a movie. I think that I think even the dude who plays a Luke Cage could do a movie. He's been in movies. He's been really good.
Exactly. They're all in movies like I don't know about Charlie Cox, but like in any case, you could just go, okay, well, the shows are done. We did them and they're cool in my culture. Thank you.
But maybe we'll start making these movies, you know, maybe like a full-fledged Daredevil movie. Maybe we'll just put Daredevil in a Spider-Man movie or maybe we'll make it, we'll just make Defenders movies or some other version. If that's the sacrifice that has to be made, I'd be okay with that. Exactly.
What's the origin of these characters? We've got 10 episodes of Origins for these characters go back and watch them. Now they just show up fully formed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yeah.
What's it called? I will, I will, I will amend that to say that Ben and Ethan disagree with me, but Tiffany did not agree, disagree with me about that. Because their point is like, well, those are TV actors. The TV actors don't belong in movies.
We don't put them in the movies. Even if they've appeared in movies, the stars are TV shows. They belong either as like the friend in a movie or nowhere near a movie. That's usually the way it goes.
There is a hierarchy and a strict caste system. Exactly. But I didn't want to be remiss in my giving credit to what credit is due. I mean, I would be sad to see Marvel Netflix dry out just because it's like, oh, but you could do so many more challenging things on Netflix that you couldn't do in a Marvel Summer blockbuster that you couldn't do on like an ABC show, even though that being said, she has ended up doing quite a lot.
The thing, like, Shield has not only survived, but been kind of like kept on life support based on the Marvel system. And I get this feeling that they were going to cancel in the absence of Shield like three seasons ago. And Disney ABC has always been the rumor. Has been like, no, you can't cancel the show.
And yet through adversity, like this is one of the best seasons of Shield yet. Right now. It's only gotten better. Like from season three onward, it's only gotten better.
And they completely changed the tone and completely changed the genre from season to season. It's going to be really interesting to look back at the breadth of Shield and be like, wow, you changed yourself up. You're the fucking David Bowie. They changed every two or like every one or two seasons.
They would change the whole point or message or theme or look or roster of the show. And yet keep the characters in their development, which could not be easy to do. No, I can't even imagine, which is why I'm like, you know what? Maybe they like, I hope that they don't just like throw the TV.
They don't throw the baby out with the bathwater when they decide to find like clean house because God knows what the future of Marvel is going to look like after infinity war and how it might reflect on the show. So we'll say based on the Jessica Jones trailer, they do reference Captain America by name. They do. And while that shouldn't be a big deal.
It kind of is because they don't do that. I'm shocked that the character doesn't say like, hey, do you know that guy with the Shield or the big green guy or the guy with hammer? Like they normally do for no God damn reason whatsoever. It's weird.
Very. Anyway, and yes, chat shield did do the inhumans better after all. You're right. Yeah, that show who could have predicted that humans was not going to work.
Man, Scott Buck loves to fucking heal fuck up your stuff, Scott. So don't do it to Scott Buck. Yeah. So all right, getting into the next trailer.
Let's talk about, I guess, what Deadpool two. Yeah, sure. They're finally unveiled in a big way. Cable.
They did. But they also managed to maintain their marketing for Deadpool where it's mostly hinged on Ryan Ryltown at a good time and playing around. Great, good fourth wall. But we still managed to get footage.
Like actually, we got a trailer and a little sketch. It was like that amazing Bob Ross trailer we got not too long ago. It was kind of the best of both worlds. Yeah, it's mostly him riffing and then like, here's 30 seconds of awesome.
I like this idea where it's like, you know, here's Cable. He's a fucking badass. He's so cool. He really should have been in movies a long time ago.
But to also kind of take the piss out of him and be like, but you're not here to see that, are you? You're here to see me be Deadpool and like hang out with like the cabbie and stuff. And to have an amazing one to punch of making fun of the mustache from Superman. Yes, wow.
Like that was that was tight. I was like, wow, nicely done. So yeah, you want to talk about the trailer a little bit? Yeah, again, yeah.
I mean, much like the Jessica Jones one's one, they don't tell us a hell of a lot of the story. We can gleam that Cable is still every bit the cable we know from the comics that he comes from a dark alternate future. But for one reason or another ends up coming to the present and seemingly he has his sights set on Deadpool for some reason. I'm guessing are we doing?
Like a Terminator thing does way destroy the future. I have to say it's probably I have to say it's a Terminator plot that way we can, you know, that way we can do like the Deadpool story that we like the smaller one, which liked him Miller left in the first place. He wanted to go bigger and they were like, no, like keep it, keep it tight, keep it simple. And he's like, okay, fine, fuck you, I'll leave.
Yeah, I can see that. Uh, was it again, all the characters you remember liking from the first one are back. You got out, you got the cabbie as you mentioned, you got Nick as Sonic teenage warhead. Mm hmm.
Yeah, that's right. All the characters come back. From the first movie. Oh, yeah, that's right.
And that made me nervous because I really like not only that actress, but I like that character. I like the romance. The whole damn first movie is hinged on them like getting back together. It's a romantic comedy first movie.
I hate for them to throw it away just so he can like make sexual mansions at Domino. Uh, who, yeah, I guess she's in the movie too. Isn't she? I forgot to mention Domino, but she shows up as well.
Yeah, Domino's coming. She's gonna be in the movie too. That's fine. Hey, you get a Gail Simone Domino mini series now due to this.
So I'm not complaining. Right. Yeah, that's true. I'm not a Marvel comic again.
So Joel will be happy. I'm sure. What is it? I assume it's a mini series.
It is. It's like sex issues. Fine. Treat it like a mini series.
Don't just say it's like, yeah, we turn it into a mini series when the numbers died. You get six, but then if it sells, you'll get six more. Thoughts on the look of cable? Uh, I mean, my thing for movies when it comes to adapting famous comic book looks is if I can look at it and at first glance know who it is and you don't have to tell me you did a good job.
And yeah, by looking at him, I can tell that's cable. Yes. It's too bad he's using his George W. Bush voice.
Boy is he. Hey, I got tasters. Can you, cable is not southern. Well, he is now.
I'm from the southern part of the future. Yeah. Oh, were you raised by Southerners? Maybe I don't know.
I know you weren't. The X-Man timeline is complicated. You don't know. Yeah, it's just like, okay, did we need Josh Brolin?
I feel like no. I think I think that the world has got an oversaturation of Josh Brolin. I think everyone wants Brolin. I don't get it, but a lot of Josh Brolin in the world.
And you know, we could use like maybe two or three movies a year or fewer of Josh Brolin, like maybe give somebody else a shot. I mean, like I heard of Gazillion. I remember when he said like at the end of the first demo movie, he's like, who knows who will play him? And we heard a lot of talk.
We had a lot of suggestions from actors themselves. Not one of them said Josh Brolin. No, it's true. And then they got Josh Brolin.
And it was like, oh, well, I guess it'll kind of look like cable. And he does. He does. I mean, I would have liked Ron Perlman.
Some people might have said he's too old. Heck, I would even have liked that dude from Avatar, the general from that. I know he campaigned for the role. He did.
Here's the thing. Like the older cable is the better for me. Like he should be like as old as you can get. He should be like you get clased with it.
Who's like a million years old and you just all, you know, you get a stunt double the most the rest of the time. You put as much like heavy looking shit on top of his boss. Well, you've got yourself a cable. Like he should look like really old.
He should have like city miles to the nth degree plus being fucking old. I agree with that. The chat is saying to Kevin Nash should have been cable. You know what?
90s Eric Kevin Nash like super shredder Eric Kevin Nash. Yeah. Yeah, I could see that. Yeah.
Oh, yeah. He wouldn't have done a stupid annoying southern accent at least. No, he just would have sounded like Clancy Brown. It would have been fun.
He's actually been coming after in recent years and plus he looks like a frickin you know book drawing. Yeah, he does. Although I don't trust him because he ruined the Punisher the first time around. As he did.
Oh, yeah, he meant to the chat saying Henry Rollins. Yeah, Rollins would have been fun and Rollins is funny too. So he could have actually ripped with Ryan Reynolds. The poor have a son of a bitch.
He always wants to be in stuff and they never put him in them and I always feel bad for him because the dude has such an earnestness about him. Yeah. If you ever watched Henry Rollins like stand up, it's freaking amazing. It is.
You know, if you've ever seen his concerts when he sings for Black Flag or shit, he was the villain in Sons of Anarchy season two and he's amazing. I got it. So what we're saying is like cable looks cool. Yeah.
And what I'm saying is it's too bad it had to be Josh freaking Roland. I will say that metal arm looks great. It does. Like it doesn't look like the arm from the comics actually is interesting because the comics are like a prosthetic.
Well, the comics looks like a regular beefy arm, but like Colossus beefy arm, which is metal with like rivets. The new one is actually like a metal arm with like holes and stuff because of the advances of CG. But who would have thought that like the comic book would be the cheaper looking version of the metal arm for cable? I don't know.
I just thought that was cool. Like it is interesting the things they overthink and the things they underthink. But man, yeah, it was cool to see cable. I hope that because of the Fox thing and because you know X-Men's future is undetermined and X-Men Phoenix is going to be stupid that they should just own it.
They should just own it. It really should. Like it should be the most faithful comic adaptation where they just go like, no, no, no, you're the son of a clone of Jean Grey and Scott. It doesn't matter anymore or it won't matter in a couple months.
We can just say whatever the fuck we want. Right. Like at the end like strife shows up and they're like, I'm a clone of you. You know, like, that would be awesome.
But you know, I feel like we're going to get more faith. This is going to be one of the most faithful X movies of all time. Like even more so than days future past. You know, which has a straight up awesome name but doesn't really embody the future of days future past.
I think we're going to see a more faithful X-Men future in cable's future. Hmm. As hard as that is to believe. Yeah.
I think it's fair to speculate that like we're going to go as faithful in this. Like almost as faithful as the cartoon. Yeah, I would really like that. I would like that a whole lot.
Yeah. And I hope he says he bought, I hope he uses the term body slide and talks about it. Time traveling. Oh yeah, there's so many jokes set up and I go like body sled, dead will usually that cost you extra 50.
Right. They all lead themselves or lend themselves to dead pool. So any other final thoughts on Deadpool two with a trailer? Are you hype?
Are you more hyped or as hyped as before? I'm about as hyped as I was before. It looks very cool. I'm glad to see they're keeping the comedy intact.
But part of me, you know, fears to what you were saying. It's like, I hope you don't go too big with it. What made the first Deadpool so endearing is that it had this kind of lo-fi almost punk rock aesthetic to it. I hope you don't go too big on it.
I hope you don't. Don't age of apocalypse this. Don't have a big battle at the end where everything's done on a computer and nothing feels real. I mean, I did that the last time I was on a shield helical carrier.
All damn things on a big fake set. But I was invested in the characters in there. I could grab on to stuff. That's very true.
I don't say. I had to care if they lived or died. Right. I hope you're right.
I want kind of like a dread movie where like you get the implication of big shit happening outside like cable. Oh, no. I want like a Terminator 2 field where it's like, you know, you get to see the future war and all this crazy expensive shit for a few minutes. And then he leaves and comes to hear where it's much less expensive and perfectly adequate.
I'm totally okay with it. You know, that's fine because I want to like imagine a world and see kind of like that realized but as much as we would see that world, even if we were reading comic book, because we don't really get to hang out with cable in his shitty future very often. No, no, we don't also here's here's hoping you like cable too because we're around the campfire is cable is going to be getting a push similar to how venom has been getting a push recently. So don't be shocked if cable just shows up in all your Marvel comics for the next couple of months.
Oh, good. I thought you meant in the movie. So it's like, oh, they're going to start pushing a cable movie. No, no, no, I mean in the comics like cable will be showing up more.
He'll be louder more in your face and have access to a time machine which he technically already had. And when he's not on panel, people have to be asking themselves where he's cable, worrying about what happened to him. It's going to be just like that. So, yeah, I will say I thought you were going to go in the like where it's like, no, no, no, no, they're like, like Fox is trending so well with cable where they're thinking like, okay, so after Deadpool two, they cable one and then we'll do Deadpool three and cable two and then we'll do Deadpool four, cable three, which is going to be called cable and Deadpool.
And like, but the fact is I think that most of these movies are all dead in the water. Yeah, because no matter what happens, because I'm, and the reason why I'm not like, oh boy, Marvel and decent and and Disney and Fox and everything is because I just heard like Comcast made a higher bid for Fox. Put more money out. And then I read like they can, they can always out the Disney, they offer to Comcast offer to buy Disney for $66 million.
Jesus. Kill me. I know it's like we were so close. Don't fuck this up.
I'm just flop this up. And also like, you know, you were talking like all these people who were like, I don't know if I want to see the fantastic for the MCU first of all, they belong in the area and the fringes and also doesn't this really make you afraid of the future of ever. It's like, Hey, you know what's worse Comcast. Yes.
Always always worse. Always worse. There's always a bigger fish and there's always a worst corporate entity. Exactly.
So trust me when I tell you. Like Disney is the lesser of two evils in this case, I believe. Yeah, I was going to say I may have thought differently at first, but now I'm like, Oh, no, if the other one is Comcast. Yeah, pass.
So everybody hashtag fuck Comcast. So yeah, we're talking about trailers. I guess like Joel, you know, I am also as hyped as before, maybe a little like it takes a lot for me to get more hyped when I see a trailer. Like if I'm down and I see a trailer and just like, okay, well, yeah, that's more.
I don't want you to ruin it for me though. I'm as down as I was before, but don't wreck it. You know, I don't want to be less down. Like, but it's hard for me to get like more down in any case.
So we're going to talk about speaking at Disney and their big, their big tentpole franchises that are probably worth less than they thought. Let's talk about solo a Star Wars movie or Star Wars. For that, I'm going to enlist the aid of my, my better half was also an equal level Star Wars fan to help talk about solo a Star Wars movie. It's just, it sucked.
It was awful. It was, it was nothing I wanted ever. I don't know why he seems older than he should be. I don't like his hair.
I have very little hope for this even remotely. I just want this. It's like a new Star Wars equal like Star Wars. A little, a little, very little.
A little hope. Yeah. I just want to be interested in this to begin with, honestly, like Han Solo's own character is just like, I don't need to know. Yeah.
Like, I don't need to know. I like him now. Like, I can imagine what it was like. But like, I don't know.
There's just random characters. I know I like felt like they were trying desperately to like, play to us. They're like, no, I see her doing the whole thing. Like, you know, like Lando's there and she wack is there and he's going to be witty but he's not witty at all.
Yeah. You know, and like, we'll do the Kessel Run and just, it's just, it's just not working for me. And then like, there's that moment between him and that chick and like, you know, talking about what he is and I'm just like, is he going to be a scoundrel? Well, yeah.
I don't know. Just didn't do it for me. Fair enough. Well, we'll get into Joel's thoughts on Melichali and the Superchess' Deadpool post-C-Joke.
How about how Thanos is cable? Yeah, they'll probably make a joke like that. So Joel, thoughts on Solo? I mean, you know, is a solo movie necessary?
Is it something people were chomping at the bit for? Probably not. Does it have a chance to be good? Yeah, possibly.
I dig the look of those new villains they seem to be fighting there. What are they called? The mollocks or is the main guy called mollock or something? I don't know.
I have no idea. I was just like, did he dive cancer? Yeah. No, he was murdered by the industry.
Yeah. And then the comedian cried. I mean, like, they fight on a train and I'm a sucker for a good train fight, especially when it's a space train fight. Yeah.
And oh, hey, they also seem to be bringing in some stuff from the old expanded universe where Solo, he's not a swoop-by-gracer, but he is some sort of space car racer as well before he becomes a pilot. Sweet. They do feel badly for like Donald Glover. I think he wanted this so badly.
You know, I think he really like, just was excited. He looks great. Yeah, but I feel badly for him because like, I don't know, I don't. They didn't.
The fact like, here's the thing, when you have a director change late in the game like this, and you need to be bringing Ron Howard. It's Ron Howard. Like the man has made, even if all their team, like he's made space movies, great at not sci-fi fantasy movies, but gun is gonna make a movie. It's still really late and things are gonna be rushed.
If they ever shoot like 90% of the movie or even if they ever shoot 40% of the movie, that's a last second game changer. And so there are gonna be points that don't seem to fit in with the other part of it, you know? Right. Well, I've heard they've only, they've refilled 90% of the film.
So there's really very little of a need to fit. It had to be taught how to act on Putin. That somebody called Kathleen Kennedy like behind everyone's back and like told on him and said like, it really sucks and he needs an acting coach and so they hired an acting coach and they brought it in. Jesus.
There's a recreation of that scene from Hail Caesar. So you know, YouTube, the scene from Hail Caesar were, were, were, tore that it's so, in any case, it's very fine and that guy and it's a, would that it tore so simple? Look that up. And you'll see him getting acting lessons from very fine and you'll get an idea as to what it was probably like.
Really bad. Yeah, I also saw the trailer and it looks like fucking Hot Garbage. It really did. It looks desperate and, and fake and I don't care about anything that's happening on the screen.
And the guy who plays Han Solo looks like nobody. Yeah, he doesn't, like, I'm having a difficult time imagining that Han Solo becoming actual Han Solo. Like I don't see that progression. Yeah.
Regardless of how long ago it was or not long ago it was, like that's just really perplexing me. Yeah. It's like the age of everyone because, because you've got a double Glover, he looks younger. Like then the guy who got to play Han Solo, but they're about similar age in, like an empire.
Yes. So either like Lando had some rough times where you didn't think about this. Right. Which is fine.
If you want Donald Glover, then you cast your solo actor around that. Right. Or just make a Lando movie. Which actually would have been more, it would have been smarter to make because with Lando there's very little you know about him.
There's very little you're expecting from him. Absolutely. There's very few people. There's the rabbit fan base.
That's not what Lando would do. Like you don't even know what Lando would do. Exactly. You know, there's a lot of the character there that you can really like expand upon.
Lando, there's so little backstory. Like you could fill it all in. It doesn't feel, it wouldn't be a betrayal. No.
Because all of this it would lead to him being like getting the best bin. Yep. And then you're like, oh, I'm going to go for this movie. So you never, you don't even get near best bin.
Right. But I guarantee there'll be a reference to Cloud City in this movie because that's what this movie is. Yeah. I'm sure Lando will say when I hit it big, I'm going to Cloud City.
Right. Or they'll say something like blow that guy to best bin. You know, like they'll use it as a term for like heaven or he'll be like, you know, all I want to do is retire in the clouds. Some really obvious cheap fake bullshit.
I really hope not. Drink my cold 45. Yeah. So I honestly don't know much about this.
I don't really know what the story is about. I know it's going to cover the castle. All right. So we assume that, but like here's my concern.
Why, okay, why rehash or show us things that we already understand? Right. We know what the castle run is. Because he says it.
And he says it in the context of something that we care about. Right. I care about the fast chip getting Obi-Wan and the droids to older and not about watching him do the. Exactly.
We know that he won the ship from Lando. And we only, yes, that's right. Because he says it. Right.
And so I don't need to see that. We know that Chewios in my life dead. We only assume that basically. Right.
And I'm glad you brought up the winning the ship thing too. Do you figure because in the last Jedi they made a such a big point of showing what is it? John's dice. Do you think those dice will make a reappearance in solo and those are the dice you used to win the game?
Yeah. Sure. I'm sure they absolutely will. But like I would much rather see if you have to do a Han Solo.
You have to do it for some reason. Like if you don't do this, the devil is going to take your children. You're like, I have to do this better. At least do a movie just about Han Solo doing something that we haven't seen before or heard about before.
Like just showing being a smuggler for Jabba doing others like stuff. Yes. Yeah. That's all I've ever wanted to see is like a smuggler movie.
Yeah. And like just watching Jabba the Hutt actually succeed in doing something. Right. I hired one.
Oh, good. I'm not like hire a smuggler to do something and have them go on an adventure but carry it out and then go back. You know, like that's why I think that would be better and smarter and would have been way less offensive and stupid. Just do the Boba Fenn movie.
Oh, I was going to say like I know you we all right so Robe won people have mixed feelings about it. It's a thing that led into a new hope, right? Yeah. Why not just do what the job at Han got boarded on?
Right. Oh, the funny thing that like brings him totally down. Yeah. Well, yeah.
The job where we dumped his cargo at the side of the house. That's a problem too. That's like you have like Harrison Ford, he's iconic. Yeah.
That's the character. So I get to go younger. River Phoenix? Yeah, River Phoenix to play him.
Which is impossible. It was a bit time machine. If you get his son, it looks just like a little. Or Necromancy.
Right. It's just don't do it. Yeah. Did you guys ever read that Han Solo series they put out from Marvel just recently where it was like him, like the greatest space race of all time.
He was forced to infiltrate by Leia and everything. No, I heard about it but I didn't. By the way, well I am golden in the super chat says that he'd rather see a chewy movie than Han Solo movie. Yeah.
I don't. Well you can just watch the holiday special. Yeah, you can just watch the holiday special. You got another butchooies.
No, but I get that. That's not even wrong because I only watched Han Solo trailer once because I couldn't work myself to watch it again. Yeah, I've only seen this. Is there another alien sidekick in this?
There's a robot sidekick. There's a robot. It's a robot. Which is actually kind of a reference to what's that book we did?
