Embiid, Ogbole, and the Future of Villanova | Big East Basketball News

Joel Embiid, the NBA superstar and Cameroon native, made a surprise campus visit to the Davis Center — just in time to hang with Nico Onyekwere, the Nigerian big man vying for a rotation spot. The duo’s shared African roots and towering frames sparked instant respect, while another Nigerian giant, Emmanuel Ogbole (a Rutgers transfer in the portal), added intrigue. At 6’10”, Ogbole brings proven starting experience and could be a key backup for Villanova if Duke Brennan isn’t back — making this a win-win for Onyekwere’s development and the Wildcats’ future. With eligibility rules tightening and connections shaping rosters, this off-court moment might just be the next big move in college hoops.
