Petersburg Florida today. I am stinky quite often. I'm really downtown central Avenue No, St. Petersburg, we found my first move to Florida in the early 60s So 1964 there was St.
Petersburg and I remember my aunt June taking us on a tour of St. Petersburg and she explained to us all That the St. Petersburg was so cool because they designed it so well You had Central Avenue and then south of that you had first Avenue south second Avenue south the above of the same thing going north So everything was in a grid so it was easy to find your way around down Ab News went east of West and streets went north itself seemed easy enough to me I remember driving downtown I wasn't driving and June was driving and June could drive in a weird sort of way anyway Oh, engine was driving down down and on central Avenue and she's pointing out all the green benches and Central Avenue in 1964 looked how can I say this it looked old it looked worn out There was all these elderly people sitting on green benches That's what they were doing and she said that's what they designed this town for was for elderly people on social security They come down here and they said on these green benches and they go shopping at Web City Web City was this they called themselves the world's most unusual drugstore This is giant department store. It was several buildings as a matter of fact And it was a weird place in itself But they had a cafeteria downstairs where you could have a full blown super meal for like an hour They had a barber shop with about 100 barbers in it that we cut your air for 50 cents And everything was yeah, they had a soda fountain that was long you could go there and you could get high five Sundays for very little money It was it was cool But it was all old Web City was old my time I got there Web City was old I wonder how old Web City was how old was it?
I will tell you they had all these little things in there that you could Go see what you watch he was this You know this tourist trap up on US 19 and 15 your Brooksville, Florida And it was the city of live mermaids and they you know said oh we have a we watch you mermaid here And you can see the underwater shell and I remember in all these rocks and holes you can look through and you were looking under Water which you weren't looking under water It's just lighting and a girl in bathing suit would walk around back there That's about it and I remember when I went I didn't see there I didn't see her and I stuck my head in the hole to people around to see if she was around and she was over way off like in a Backstage area. I could see her smoking is about okay. That's interesting. They also had a dancing chicken They had a dancing chicken you could you could go there and put a nickel in where you saw the chicken The chicken was buying glass and within a few minutes that chicken was dancing all over the floor there That's because it was a metal thing and when you put the nickel in it would heat up and chicken Never fly day anyway today.
I'm driving down central Avenue in St. Petersburg No green benches. They're all gone big change big big change No old buildings I mean there was a little buildings that they all been redone and there was a lot of new buildings There was beautiful apartments. There was just all kinds of things happening there It was fabulous the police department downtown where my sister used to work for 29 and a half years as all been rebuilt It's all beautiful everything there is modern and the only thing I saw the people I saw were young people walking the streets and walking dogs and taking Watch riding their bikes riding their electric bikes everything was new fresh vibrant.
I could not believe how cool downtown St. People had become I was just totally and completely impressed with that so let's just embrace change and be grateful for it Letting go of old man. That's the thing change requires us to just like go the old crap and move on and like it's better You know, I'd rather be an old person in St. Peter.
I'm older I'd rather be an old person in St. Peter today hanging out with all the young people because it was very vibrant and if I end you in our live today I swear God she she probably have a thrombo. She probably would so let's think about change and be grateful for it Let's think about moving forward embracing the under finding the lesson of change being a good thing Yeah, growth in the challenge up. There's a huge challenge.
