In this week’s podcast Jinty and Lou talk to life coach and woman empowering expert Sophie Cleere about how we can embrace our midlife and love ourselves for who we are. The Book Collective finish the last chapters of Tarana Burke’s Unbound and there are tears but a deeper understanding of why the Me Too movement is one of the most important movements of our time. Jinty and Lou discuss what gives them confidence in mid-life and there are some great comments from the Collective. As it’s the end of the month it’s Wine Collective and we reveal our alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. Jinty went to Parliament Square on Friday October 29th for MP Carolyn Harris’s Menopause bill’s second reading, with some amazing results. We talk about role models in our lives and the impact that has on us through the generations and as we grow-up the need for external validation. Sophie talks about her peri menopause and how it affected her life, recognising her symptoms earlier than most, and deciding to take body identical HRT. We discuss sea swimming and the benefits for women on immersing themselves in the cool waters, Sophie loves a naked swim and finds it totally liberating, Jinty and Lou consider this…Sophie is a true advocate for mid-life women and gives us 3 of her tips to help every person through their mid-life journey, we should learn to love our bodies and embrace the beautiful beings we are. The Book Collective complete Tarana Burke’s Unbound, a truly beautiful memoir, there were tears from both Jinty and Lou in the final chapters, when Tarana realises her growth from the 7 year old who was raped by an older boy, when she eventually sees him again with his own family, he does not recognise her and her mother says, ‘He didn’t recognise you because you turned out to be a smart, beautiful, accomplished women despite him trying to take that away from you.’We announce our new book for the next month, How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie, a funny, sharp, dark and twisted novel…..we can’t wait to get started! As it’s the end of the month we introduce our Wine Collective and this month’s non-alcoholic choice from Jinty is Jukes Cordialities No6. Lou opts for a Marks & Spencer’s classic red No38, Pinot Noir from New Zealand, it’s a vegan medium bodied fruity red and is a great compliment to your Sunday Roast.
