Throughout her life, Nickie had faced challenges in her own haircare journey. When she hit her breaking point, she decided to transition to natural hair, which came with its own set of difficulties, like chemical-filled products. In 2014, Nickie decided to start crafting her own formulas that she could trust. When she reached results that she felt confident in and that worked on her own hair, Nickie launched Curls Dynasty. A line of premium, chemical-free, curl products. Nickie was born and raised in Haiti but moved to Florida when she was 13 years old. Her Haitian culture and relationships with her family there are a big part of her story. From a young age, Nickie’s mother taught her how to fight for what you want and how to be disciplined. Nickie’s personal experience with hair relaxers is what ultimately led her to embrace her natural curls. Patterns of chemical scalp burns and peeling were her breaking point, and Nickie knew that other women were facing the same issues. When Nickie started making products in her kitchen, other women expressed interest, which led her to selling her products in retail stores like Target and Walmart. Curls Dynasty uses only organic and natural ingredients in their products and allows users to target their specific frustrations with their line of cleansers, conditioners, masques, and more.
