Emergence Band Shines at Special Olympics
from Minneapolis News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
A Minnesota band called Emergence, made up of musicians with intellectual disabilities, blew the crowd away at the Special Olympics USA Games Fan Fest — and they’re just getting started. Using Ruth Pippa Lemay’s revolutionary “Three Strings” method, which replaces sheet music with colors, shapes, and symbols, these teens learn to play in under an hour. Every Thursday, they rehearse vocals, drums, and guitars, turning practice into powerful community. Fifteen-year-old singer Michael says this is his dream come true. Lemay calls their energy “off the charts” — and she’s hoping to scale this approach nationwide. Catch them live Tuesday at The National Sports Center in Blaine, noon to one p.m. Support the show:Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
