Emerging technologies can help tackle disinformation

Taiwan-based Numbers Protocol uses blockchains to trace the origin of media files, allowing people to know where information comes from. This impedes the efforts by malicious actors to generate disinformation and spread it, as it makes it easy to know if a media comes from a disreputable source or has been altered. Numbers Protocol now seeks to expand its methods into the Creative Origin Alliance with other organisations. This is an example of how the same technologies that create disinformation can be used to counter it - an extremely important topic for Taiwan, which is the target of a large flow of fake news.
