from Fraternity Foodie Podcast by Greek University · host Michael Ayalon

Today we have for you Emily Gold Mears. She is a citizen scientist, research analyst, biohacker, and author. A former attorney, Emily shifted her advocacy efforts to seek information on optimizing one's health through extensive research analysis in science and medicine. Her research focuses on the intersection of functional and allopathic medicine, and the critical requirements for individuals to become their own health advocates. She is actively involved in several health-related research nonprofit organizations as a speaker and collaborator who is dedicated to simplifying language and educating people to live healthier and longer lives. In episode 308 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out why Emily chose UC Berkeley for her undergraduate experience, why she went from Law School to then seeking information on optimizing one's health through extensive research analysis in science and medicine, how oral health (or lack thereof) can compromise our health, what are the four toxins in our home that are making us sick, what is the problem with the LED bulbs that we are all switching to in our homes, what issues Emily has with the supplement industry, what are the good testing and health tracking devices that one can use to monitor their health, why we have to be our own health advocate, and how poor sleep affect your appetite and metabolism.
