Employees vs Independent Contractors - KB Short

Welcome to another KB Short episode from The KB Article podcast! As we get set up and ready for the fast-approaching 2024 Tax Season, we just want to discuss the two classifications of employee, and what that means for you as a taxpayer as well as the differences and implications with that. The two main types of employees (in the tax world at least) are W-2 Employees and 1099-NEC Independent Contractors. Employees are considered part of the company umbrella, while independent contractors are like short term, job based employees, and are usually short term relationships and considered business relationships (thus, independent contractors are treated as self employed for taxes).
