Employment of the Visually Impaired with Tyson Ernst
from GEMS with Genesis Amaris Kemp · host Genesis Amaris Kemp
Are you discounting or discrediting someone because they don't measure up your human standards? It is time for you to strip away any preconceived notions, unconscious biases, and view things from another vantage point. We all know ignorance is blissed and we need to focus more on how we are alike versus different. In this segment, Tyson Ernst will discuss his personal background and experiences with employment of the visually impaired. See video component here - https://youtu.be/vlNB0p9a5CM WHO IS TYSON? I lost my sight, not my life. It just feels like that sometimes. I experienced sudden vision loss at the age of 36 as a husband and father of 2. For the next several years, I struggled with reimagining myself and returning to the work force. 16 years later, I am still struggling as the work force has changed and left me behind. When I walk into a room, the first thing people notice is my white cane or my dog guide. I now find it my mission to change attitudes around the visually impaired and the realm of acquiring equal and fulfilling employment.
