Empowered Beauty: Feeling Confident in Your Skin

from Resilient Woman Leadership Podcast · host Kathryn Regganie

Podcast Show Notes: Host: Kathryn Regganie Guest: Dr. Kate Dee Episode Summary  In this episode, I sit down with Katherine Dee to discuss the deeper purpose behind aesthetic treatments and skincare. We break down common misconceptions about the industry and explore how skincare can be an empowering, personal choice rather than a pursuit of perfection. Katherine shares insights on how treatments can enhance natural beauty, address skin concerns like rosacea, and ultimately help people feel more confident in their own skin. We also talk about the importance of doing these treatments for yourself rather than external validation, and Katherine shares a fun story about how a leather jacket purchase became a symbol of personal confidence and self-expression. Key Topics Discussed: The truth behind common myths about aesthetic treatments Why skincare is about feeling good, not just about reducing wrinkles How to approach skin concerns in a way that aligns with your values The role of self-confidence in beauty decisions A fun perspective on investing in pieces (like a great leather jacket) that make you feel amazing Speaker Bio: Dr. Kate Dee's journey is anything but conventional. A New York City native, she set her sights on medicine early, earning a BS in Biology from Yale in 1989 and an MD from Yale in 1994. After completing her residency in Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Washington and a Breast Imaging fellowship at UCSF, she spent years dedicated to women's health, working at the Seattle Breast Center. Then, a mentor's advice planted a seed: Change careers at least once—if not twice—to keep learning and growing. Though she initially dismissed the idea, an unexpected opportunity to train in Botox injections set her on a path she never anticipated. What began as a curiosity evolved into a bold career shift, launching Dr. Dee into the fast-paced, unregulated world of medical aesthetics. Now, as a physician, entrepreneur, and author, Dr. Dee brings a critical and insightful perspective to the Wild West of med spas. Her book dives into the surprising realities behind the beauty industry, sharing her personal journey and the fascinating, sometimes shocking, experiences that come with it. If you've ever considered Botox—or know someone who has—her story is one you won't want to miss.
