Empowered - Luke 24:49

from Cyril Guerette — Sermons & Teaching

The Groundswell Church, Identity Reality · Luke 24 “So I wait, and then what I do is — I wait — and I listen to hear what he says. And waiting is not passive, by the way. It's very active. I'm looking at waiting — it's like waiting for someone to return home from a long journey, and you know your kids are coming home — and they haven't showed up. You're just looking at the door — staring on the horizon — and waiting — but you're watching. That's how we wait. We actively wait on the Lord. … He's studying his book — and we're going to go through the steps. This is — this is how it works — when you're actually waiting. No one likes to wait. … Waiting on the Holy Spirit.” Passage: Luke 24:49 Read the post: https://www.cyrilguerette.com/sermon-blog/2023-05-28-empowered In the shadow of the love and forgiveness of the cross, the light of the Resurrection brings forth a new reality for all those who believe in Jesus. The fact that Jesus is Risen changes everything. It is the promise that we are a New Creation, that we are no longer called sinners but friends. Through faith in Jesus the reality of our identity is that we are saints, a people chosen to be the children of God who will reign with Christ when he returns to set all things new and right. With this new identity we are empowered to face all the lies and attacks that besiege our minds, hearts and spirits, and live in lockstep with the God who defines reality forever.
