Empowered to Heal from Mental Illness

Has the bombardment of news about deadly shootings as they relate to mental illness increased your apprehension to hire and teach persons with mental or learning challenges? Has the news disempowered students and employees to seek accommodations in the workplace or at school? Unfortunately, there are many educators, employers, health care professionals, and even religious leaders who are not aware of the potential of those diagnosed with mental illness. In many communities, the access to mental health services, including medications, is still a major problem. Our Special Guest, Dr. Daniel Fischer, Author and Advocate, is a board-certified psychiatrist who completed his residency at Harvard Medical School. Most importantly, he has recovered from schizophrenia and is Executive Director of the National Empowerment Center.
