Honorable Margaret shares with us her incredible journey, starting from a small town called Kanyandahi in Fort Portal, where she grew up in a family of cattle keepers. With their father relying on cattle rearing as their main source of income, Margaret and her siblings learned the value of hard work and contributing to the family's success from an early age.During her formative years, Margaret underwent basic military training, which was encouraged by the current president to empower women and equip them with the confidence to face any challenges, including potential military coups. Following her studies, Margaret ventured into journalism and worked as a political news correspondent for the New Vision Uganda. Her extensive experience and deep understanding of politics motivated her to embark on her own journey in politics.Though faced with initial defeat, Margaret's determination led her to persist, eventually winning a seat in parliament. She openly acknowledges the existence of patriarchy but emphasizes how she never allowed it to hinder her career progression. In this episode, we delve into the challenges women in politics face and how Margaret has managed to overcome them. She also sheds light on the specific issues women in her constituency encounter, such as childhood marriages, and she encourages women to pursue their purpose in life relentlessly, becoming economically empowered and defying any obstacles they may face.Margaret passionately shares how women in remote villages are now part of saving groups and experiencing greater emancipation.
