Donald Trump heeft, sinds het eerste schot op 28 februari, 39 keer het bereiken van een wapenstilstand, vrede of – in zijn terminologie – een ‘deal’ met Iran aangekondigd. Nu ook Iran zegt dat er vrijdag in Genève een overeenkomst wordt ondertekend, kunnen we de Amerikaanse president in elk geval het voordeel van de twijfel geven. Maar wat er wordt getekend is niet meer dan een ‘memorandum of understanding’ van twee pagina’s met 14 punten, waarover daarna twee maanden wordt onderhandeld.
